EAI DEVELOPS NEW LIBRARY OF GLASS VULNERABILITY DATA

FOR USE WITH HEXDAM/VEXDAM

August 25, 2005

HEXDAM/VEXDAM in their current form contain a library of 104 types of structures. However, vulnerability data for only one type of glass is provided, corresponding to ordinary 4 mm (.157 in.) annealed glass. Because of the importance of using blast-resistance glass in modern building design, as well as in retrofits, EAI has recently developed a new library of vulnerability data for a total of fifteen different types of glass for use with HEXAM/VEXDAM. The glass types are as follows:

Annealed Glass (A)

4mm (.157 in)

4mm (.157 in) + ASF

4mm (.157 in) + ASF + BBNC

Toughened Glass (T)

6mm (.236 in)

6mm (.236 in) + ASF

8mm (.315 in)

8mm (.315 in) + ASF

10mm (.394 in)

10mm (.394 in) + ASF

Laminated Glass (L)

6.8mm (.268 in)

7.5mm (.295 in)

11.5mm (.453 in)

Double Glazed Units

6mm (.236 in) T + 6mm (.236 in) T

6mm (.236 in) A + 7.5mm (.295 in) L

6mm (.236 in) T + 7.5mm (.295 in) L

______________________________

ASF – Anti Shatter Film

BBNC – Bomb Blast Net Curtain

Users of HEXDAM/VEXDAM who are interested in obtaining copies of this library of glass vulnerability data should contact EAI for more information at eai@mindspring.com.
