ARMY ENGINEERS RECEIVE DONATION FROM HUNTSVILLE SMALL BUSINESS

March 27, 2003

In an unusual chain of events a retired Naval Officer has donated advanced engineering software to a team of Army Combat engineers for use in the war in Iraq.  On February 19, 2003, an Army reserve officer, Capt. Bart Kemper, contacted Engineering Analysis Inc. (EAI), of Huntsville, Alabama, and explained that while the Army had no budget to cover such an expenditure, he needed copies of the HEXDAM, VEXDAM, and VASDIP software for use in carrying out his duties as a combat engineer with the 412th ENCOM.  This software, which deals with explosive damage assessment, and is currently valued at more than $17,000, was originally developed by EAI and is currently distributed by Trinity Consultants of Dallas, Texas.  Dr. Frank B. Tatom of EAI had the final decision in this matter.  As a retired Naval Officer, with a son-in-law currently serving as an Apache Longbow pilot with the 101st Airborne in Iraq, Dr. Tatom gave his approval to this donation.  Such a donation, in Dr. Tatom's mind, is a demonstration both of EAI's commitment to support the U.S. Armed Forces and also of the value of this software in solving complex explosive damage assessment problems in the field.
